The Black Grape.
New kid on the block ‘The Black Grape’ opens its doors on the iconic Royal Mile to delight tourists and locals alike with its incredible food and wine pairings. Championing local producers and a genuinely creative menu of small plates and carefully curated wine list, The Black Grape has become a popular destination for foodies. SPLINTR were tasked with creating a relaxed and inviting respite away from the hustle and bustle of the capitals main artery. An array of beautiful, tactile materials such as locally sourced sycamore, terrazzo, Foresso, metal and fluted glass combine to create sweeping curves which create a sense of fluidity and movement throughout the space. This is exemplified in the upper seating area, where a flowing curved banquette and oval tables run below the main windows. The considered lighting design of the space was crucial in creating an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. An ambitious suspended oval raft and curved bar gantry balance form and function while gently washing the space in soft warm light.
The design of The Black Grape is an example of how design can completely transform a space. The result of which is an elegant and contemporary interior that perfectly complements the wine and small plates on offer, creating a truly unique and unforgettable experience for customers.
