THE MELTING POT

The Melting Pot is a collaborative hub for social innovation situated on Rose Street in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre. Their bright and spacious offices house a wide range of organisations working towards social change. When SPLINTR were approached to redesign and refit The Melting Pot offices, their working environment lacked cohesion and a direction. The owners were looking to create a stylish, functional  and unique space that could denote various different working areas such as 'hot-desking', permanent resident workspaces, conversation areas and meeting rooms whilst instilling and maintaining a sense of community. 

SPLINTR completely refurnished the space with custom made desks, shelving units, booths and a new reception area. A series of long tables were designed to maximise functional desk space and provide a striking visual focal point. Fabricated from a highly finished, hardwearing birch plywood with a mix of raw steel hairpin and tapered plywood legs, USB and plug sockets and a custom paint job to denote the various workspaces.  Partition walls were removed and reworked to create booth areas for more private conversations and meetings and various storage solutions were designed and fabricated to maximise usable work areas.
