KANPAI
We recently completed a beautiful restaurant frontage for Kanpai, an Edinburgh Sushi institution on Grindlay Street. The large window inserts are made from Richlite with solid Iroko timber slats. A frameless lightbox sits above the door in a concave powdercoated stainless steel housing. Below this, a traditional Noren curtain is hung to indicate if the kitchen is open. The inserts are hinged from the top to allow easy cleaning of the windows. It was important to compliment their beautiful interior, and stay sympathetic to Japanese design in general.
